The Chairperson or persons from each committee must be voted in by a majority vote at a General Meeting by the general membership. Chairperson or persons then become a voting member of the Executive Board. Chairperson terms are for 2 years, or until they no longer have a child attending Cold Spring School and/or Swift River Elementary. Terms begin on July 1 of the year elected and continue until June 30 of the year the term expires. One member or Officer may serve as Chair or Co-Chair of more than one committee, but will have one vote as a member of the Executive Board, regardless of the number of committees chaired.

If you are interested in becoming an active member of this diverse organization,  or helping when you can, whether it is 5 minutes a month, for a single event, or to Chair a committee, please click on the committee name and e-mail the ways you would like to contribute!

Publicity   Involves web site updates, newsletter creation, meeting notices, public relations, etc. Use your creativity to keep everyone up to date with the CSSR PTO happenings

Membership and Event Planning~   Committee is responsible for rallying members to join in actively to participate within the organization during the membership drive period of September - October each year. The committee also works together  planning and implementing Family Fun Events and enrichment programming. Do you have excellent inter-personal skills? Love a party? We need you!

Teacher & Staff Appreciation ~  This committee works together to help plan, implement, and solicit corporate; business; and parent/caregiver participation for an event in May to thank the teachers and staff for all their hard work and dedication to our children. Great choice for people who love to plan parties!

Fundraising ~  This committee works together to solicit and procure funding from various sources including local sponsors, grant awards, parents and caregivers, and any other area or funding that may become available to support our goals for the children. Grant Writing/Non Profit Experience? Good team player? Enjoy marketing? Not afraid to ask people to pitch in and help us help the schools? This may be the one for you!

About Us

The Cold Spring Swift River PTO a 100% volunteer operated certified 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our organization was born in September 2005 and has continually grown and blossomed ever since.  Our Mission Statement is "Working together to assist our children on their academic journey". We strive to achieve this goal by being an active part of our school community.  Our goals are to  offer  family and enrichment  programs, support teachers and school improvement goals, and foster effective partner involvement in order to help the home, school, and community work together to provide the best possible learning environment for our children.

Every parent, caregiver, and educator with students in, or who works at, either Swift River or Cold Springs School is automatically a member of the PTO.

We try and  encourage members to consider actively participating with any time, service, or donation they have to offer.  With your participation, you will be supporting an important partnership to help Belchertown's elementary aged children be the best they can be.  We believe that this partnership will improve and enrich our children's education.

There are many volunteer opportunities that require little time commitment, but are necessary to the success of PTO events.  Please know that any gift of your time that you offer the PTO, and ultimately our students, is never too small!  We are appreciative of whatever you are able to give.

To become involved with the PTO, please check out our volunteer committee opportunities and let us know how you can help by sending an outline of what you can offer to the CSSR PTO, 57 State Street, Belchertown, MA 01007 or e-mail us at Contact@cssrpto.org
