The Fabulous NEW Swift River Elementary Playground... Thanks to all of YOU who helped!!
In august of 2007, even with 100 degree heat and high humidity, about 40 volunteers arrived throughout the day to help with the installation, which was professionally supervised as an in-kind donation by Aaron Oldenburg, husband of Heidi Oldenburg a Teacher at SRE!
One of the pictures above shows a group of volunteers lifting a swirl slide into place. You may notice our own Richard Pazasis, Superintendant of the Belchertown Public Schools, who was one of the first on site and stayed all day working right along he rest of the volunteers!
Dunkin Donuts and Panera Bread provided breakfast, Subway of Belchertown provided lunch, The Common Italian provided dinner, Rondeau Ice kept the bottles of water cold and Wal-Mart in Ware provided beverages and snacks throughout the day to keep the volunteers hydrated and fueled up with energy!
Thank you to everyone who contributed cash and, products and services and volunteer labor for a total value of $125,000 to install all of the exciting new playground equipment at SWIFT RIVER ELEMENTARY!!!

To install an inclusive playground with components that all have an occupational value to our Preschool and Kindergarten children. Having access to play on inclusive components allows peers to play side by side, regardless of ability. It will also strengthen and enhance all of their gross motor, social, and sensory skill sets. It is critical in early development to offer children the tools they need to thrive and blossom as they grow, and proper play components are definitely a big part of their overall development! We would be honored to have your support to assist us in purchasing and installing play components that will be placed approximately in the area shown below!
